TNRERA: check a project or a property agent before you pay
Projects over 500 sq m or with more than 8 units must be registered with TNRERA, and so must property agents. How to check a registration number on rera.tn.gov.in.
The Tamil Nadu Real Estate Regulatory Authority (TNRERA) registers real-estate projects and property agents under the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, 2016.
Which projects must register
- Residential or commercial projects on land above 500 square metres, or with more than 8 flats or plots, before they are advertised or sold.
- The registration number must appear in the advertisement and brochure.
How to check a project
- Open rera.tn.gov.in.
- Search the registered projects by name or registration number.
- Check the promoter’s name, the approved plan, the completion date and the status.
Property agents
Agents who help sell units in registered projects must also register with TNRERA and show their number. On UngalPro, a member’s RERA agent number is shown on their listings when they have added it; members who sell only their own or family property do not need one.
